3 Tips To Help You Prepare for Botox

Author: Burt Faibisoff, M.D., FRCS (C)

With summer in full swing, many people are thinking about what they can do to look their best. For those who want to look younger and feel better about their appearance, Botox is a natural go-to. However, adequate preparation and physician selection is paramount in order to achieve the great results you want for yourself. Below are three of my favorite tips on preparing for Botox. If you have additional questions, feel free to call Four Peaks Plastic Surgery at 480-257-2670 for more information.

3 Botox Tips

#1 Choose the right physician. Technique is everything in Botox injections. Choose a physician who is board-certified in plastic surgery. In order for the injection administrator to have good technique, it’s a pre-requisite that he or she have an in-depth knowledge of facial anatomy. This helps ensure that the right muscles are injected with the right amount of Botox in order to achieve the desired effect.

#2 Stay away from “professionals” who pressure. It is sad, but true, that some medical professionals may try to pressure you into having more Botox than you want for yourself. Only work with a physician who is willing to listen to your desires and create an injection treatment plan that meets those goals.

#3 Talk to your physician about precautions. At Four Peaks Plastic Surgery, we go above and beyond to adequately prepare our patients for Botox. But we know not all offices operate the same way. Here are a few ground rules for discussion with your injection administrator: (1) Let them know if you have had Botox injections in the past four months. (2) If you take blood-thinners, ask if you should (and can safely) stop taking them in the days leading up to your procedure. (3) If you take allergy medications, sleeping aids, or muscle-relaxers, let the medical professional know.
